My name is Ethan Borg. This year marks a decade in the field of acupuncture and Oriental medicine. I received my Masters of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree from the New England School of Acupuncture. In addition to starting a new practice in three East Coast cities, I also co-created a short-lived projected called Healing Space of New England, which posted acupuncturists in fitness centers and ran most of the business-side of their operations for them.
I have been an entrepreneur my entire adult life. As soon as I graduated from college, I began my entrepreneurial training. In 1995, I created TSW, INC. (This Stupendous World, Inc.) and began creating internet websites. During the Dot Com Boom, I became an executive at multiple business start ups on the West Coast. I have invested decades of my life making small businesses hum.
While I have written three textbooks about different elements of acupuncture theory, a fourth book is most salient here: The Spiritual Path To Building Your Business. This blog is not about acupuncture theory -- which I love so much and could talk about endlessly. Rather, this blog is about the business-side of being an acupuncturist -- written by an acupuncturist for other acupuncturists and herbalists.
Running an acupuncture business is completely different than being a practitioner. Where physicians generate enough income to buffer themselves from the business-side of their work, acupuncturists do not have that luxury. Thus, you must develop a whole set of new skills to succeed at an acupuncture business. I am going to write about those. And, I am going to write about the ups and downs of running my own business, so that you can get a fly-on-the-wall perspective of my successes, failures, and frustrations.
